Desiderata 6th July 2020 - Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Max Ehrmann, "Desiderata", 1927
Depression Is An Inability To Construct A Future 18th May 2020 - "Depression is an inability to construct a future." - I don't know the original source of the quote, could be clinical literature or somebody like Freud. Usually someone comes along on the comments and lets me know, or it's an original quote from the movie. Dunno. The quote made me look back at tough times in my life - and I think it's an explanation or partial explanation (of course there's other factors that make us depressed). We tend to predict the future based on what happened in the past. We tend to feel happier with a "secure" future, and less happy without. Uncertainty feeds into this. With the caveat, that the future doesn't really exist, it's a mental construction (ie we don't know for sure what the future will be, it's just degrees of certainty or uncertainty.)
Stages Of Grief (And Loss) 13th May 2020 - I can't remember if I blogged about this before, I first heard about it in the movie "The Bucket List" with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, who's characters were both terminally ill with cancer, and they eventually made friends and had some adventures together. It's a nice film, well worth a watch. In the movie, they talk about the 5 stages of grief which I think originated with Elizabeth Kubler Ross
40 Rules For Life – Jordan Peterson 5th May 2020 - Jordan Peterson’s book “12 Rules For Life” is said to have been based on an original list of 40 rules which Jordan posted on Quora in answer to “What are the most valuable things everyone should know ?” originally in …
Can’t You Write Your Own Original Material? Quoting Einstein Has Been Done! 4th May 2020 - The silver lining, the emotional alchemy - as I've said a million times on this blog - is they never cease to give me something to blog about, and it's made me quite popular. If I have the time, or I'm bored, I might even play with them for a while, and then add their details to my blocklist (do not pass go, do not receive $200)

The Wrong Thinker’s Guide To Being A Successful Novelist (Or Any Kind Of Creative) 27th April 2020 - To be a "successful" artist of any form - writer, painter, photographer, musician, etc, and don't forget creativity extends into STEM fields too - you either accept that you do your art because you love it or, you find a way to provide for you and your loved ones, via your gifts bestowed upon you by "God". Or in other words, the things you're passionate about doing, and love doing. Even better if you have competency at them.
Strip Richard Branson Of His Knighthood – Change.org 24th April 2020 - I used to look up to the man. But since he bought my mortgage company after the 2008/Lehman Brothers crisis, they have set their interest rate at an extreme profit margin, all whilst interest rates have been historically low (like close to zero). For more than 12 years now I've been paying a huge premium over the Bank Of England's base rate, straight into Richard Branson's pocket. It's one of the reasons I've personally struggled financially ever since 2008 - whilst Richard has his fingers in a number of pies, including his own island. Bouncing around in his private jets and floating around in Bentleys, living the life of Riley.

Don Charisma Added To Bitchute 30th March 2020 - The primary purpose of opening the channel on BitChute is free speech. I believe people should be able to say what they want to say. Censoring for partisanship reasons, ie basically totalitarianism - is essentially the highway to hell - some seem to have forgotten lessons we learn't under totalitarianism despot rule, in the present and not that distant past - Russia, Cambodia, China etc, and currently Venezuela. The death toll is said to be in the 100s of millions, people were murdered and some starved to death. If you need a reminder watch "The Killing Fields" or read George Orwell's "1984", and other works. Somewhat ironically, from what I understand Orwell was a leftist.

Why I Think Stocks May Crash, Hard 12th January 2016 - The problem is that when stocks start selling, others start selling their stocks too, it turns into to a selling frenzy. Short selling on stocks is rarely pretty, or predictable, fortunes have been wiped out in seconds. From what I understand, RBS has advised their clients, well basically to "sell everything" within the last few days. Doesn't sound particularly responsible for a global bank, but I have no control over what they say. It's also possible that RBS might be right.
What’s Beyond Space ? 5th December 2015 - From what I understand, our universe is expanding, has been since the beginning. It's what scientists call "inflation". Liking to think beyond what I'm told, I do puzzle about what exactly the universe is expanding into.
Being Versus Doing – Unblocking Creative Block 31st October 2015 - I believe hard work is important in life, for many reasons, foremost of which is that we're taking responsibility for ourselves, our lives and our loved ones. Should Communities Be Run By Corporations ? 15th October 2015 - Are corporations the best structures to be running communities ? Or does that just lead to the corporation promoting their own agendas, like "profit for them first, freedom for community members afterwards" ?
One Sided Conversations … 10th October 2015 - Ever had one of those conversations where the other person isn't interested, isn't present or wilfully continues to ignore what you say in favour of their own opinions and agenda ? Utterly selfish, a bit narcissistic ... or do we all do it sometimes ?
The Sun Will Always Rise – Matt 10th October 2015 - As i sit on the warm sand of the beach at dusk, salty sea scented air wafts over my face, carried off the waves by a gentle breeze, squinting out over the ocean at the horizon, i cannot help but feel a mild depression wash over me like the frothing waves lapping at the shoreline beneath me.

Free Open Directory For WordPress Professionals – Developers, Designers And Security Experts 6th October 2015 - I have an Egyptian friend who runs a fruit and vegetable shop in London, we call 'em "Green Grocers". He's quite a knowledgeable guy in business, and it'd always confused me as to why several green grocers would want to set up business in the same area. My thoughts were of competition for customers, slim pickings. His answer was simply that customers get to know that that is a good place, an area, a locale in which to go to buy fruit and vegetables and have an excellent selection.
Aopinionatedman Is AOK … 5th October 2015 - Jason's been in touch with me, seems he's OK, so nothing to worry about. I think Jason's a progressive and forward thinking guy in his blogging. He entertains, amazes and amuses many on a daily basis, and is full of charisma in any dealings I've had with him ... and he's even been doing photography and videography lately, so who can complain ...
What Happened To Aopinionatedman ? 5th October 2015 - I'm behind on my reading, so had to examine the Google cache and other sources, seems that Jason's set his blog to private, because of cyber bullying aimed at him. Which is very sad. Very sad that a voice gets crushed by negative people, who've got nothing better to do than lie and spin, and then spin and lie.
