For my own memory, and maybe anyone else out there who needs to find this out (couldn’t find this info out-in-the-wild) :
I used TTL/Serial cable (3.3v but I think it handles also 5v), they are cheap to buy, come with dupont pins.
Looking at front of board (the IR side), 6 pin “JST” style connector on LHS of the board.
1 = gnd (my cable is black)
2 = nc
3 = board RX, our TX (my cable is green)
4 = board TX, our RX (my cable is white)
5 = nc
6 = nc
I’m using Claude code to try to get a better UI and newer firmware. “DaivietPDA” is the intial path I’m taking. Looks like he we has wrong GPIO for reset button AO_5 (wrong) instead of AO_2 (correct) – have Claude change this. AFIAK, this is path of least resistance.
Also, Claude was able to convert DaivietPDA images into “update.zip” which can be read off USB, maybe SD card in conjunction with reset button. v7.1 I’m working on, plan is to try v9 Android TV, then maybe a LineageOS build. v7.1 looks to be working, Claude also de-googled the image (I use console based Claude Code, in docker).
I’ll try update here if I make any more progress or, able to push an image to github. Don’t have the time to maintain an official build anywhere.
