My Jam turned out well, luckily I wasn’t making it from scratch that’s a whole nuther level of time consuming. Especially since I don’t have an oven to sterilise the jars. I boiled them in a pan for a short while and will keep the finished mixed fruit conserve in the fridge, so hopefully no mould. Well provided that is that I eat it fast enough.
I love to pioneer and do things which “can’t be done”, today’s research was into the fascinating world of artificial intelligence, for a top secret project I’ve had in mind for a while. I’d been looking for Google’s street view algorithm they use to read street signs, so far no joy. It’s reckoned that the algorithm Google’s using for automagically reading street view street signs is around 98% accurate … but as always happens on my travels I find other good stuff, so not all bad ! … if anyone knows where the algorithm or code is then let me know please …
I’m also in the process of sexy’ing up our commercial site DonCharisma.com. I’ve been looking for a WordPress plugin to do our portfolio listings of completed projects, you know – to showcase our work. The Jetpack portfolio component is good, but doesn’t do quite what I want … So I could write my own WordPress plugin to do what I want, BUT, there’s quite a lot of time to get it exactly just so. Even though I could do it, can I spare the time ? … Still haven’t decided, might go for one of the free plugins, which does almost what I want, sometimes ease is more important than being pedantic or a perfectionist …
Back to the AI, I’m finding tagging photos in Lightroom, an onerous task with some 50000 photos in my collection. Anyone that’s ever picked photos, in any quantity knows that it’s quite the saga, without mentioning keywording them, titling them, blurbing them and so on. Reminds me of getting my music collection onto my iPhone and then into iTunes match, felt like it would never end, endless rounds of CDs into the drive and then with iTunes match constantly having to monitor it and restart it. And not even mentioning having to download all the missing artwork. I did get there in the end, and I’m happy I did it, all my music is now at my fingertips, which is the reward for the effort. So why mention the AI ? well I was wondering, and then I figured out how to, make a Lightroom plugin to do the tagging for me, automagically, using AI. Again like with the WordPress plugin, it’ll take time, and I’m already juggling things that I want to do … but anything’s possible with Charisma they say … so perhaps …
So, hence the dilemma part … Lightroom plugin or WordPress plugin or something else … and, also, obviously I need to rest, I can’t work 24 hours a day, most people can’t …
Incoherent ? Good, great, super, awesome, then I achieved the desired effect, blogging should be a pleasure for me, not a chore 🙂
Cheers

Comments are often welcomed, provided you can string a legible, relevant and polite sentence together. In other cases probably best shared with your therapist, or kept to yourself.
Whew! Just whew! You are one busy guy! As for tagging photos – I’m still using a Sharpie.
Should you create your own plug in, you’ll not only have a tool created to meet your specifications – you’ll have one you can market.
Seems win-win to me.
LOL, sharpie, you’re funny 🙂
I went with your suggestion, I now have a working plugin, and we’ll see if it’s marketable … maybe …
You want algorithms? Are you a tech genius now or what?
Just genius Matt, I thought you knew that already ?
Haha genius photographer indeed!
🙂
I would love to have a solution to tagging my photos, although I have nowhere near as many as you. Keep us all in the loop. Great ideas.
Thanks Claremary, I was able to get it working, and works pretty well. I might be looking for AN alpha tester, would need to be someone with something going on between the ears and time to experiment with it and report back. It’s possible we may retail it, or a promo thing, I didn’t decide yet …
What a fun post!! 😀 🙂
– me likey!!
Thanks 🙂
