Sunset’s are one of mine and Don’s favourite photos to take. They provide endless opportunities to take beautiful photos.
To give you an idea how popular they are, in one month alone, the sunset photos on this blog have pulled in over 4000 likes from 23 posts.
Please make sure you read the rules if you want to take part.
Over here we have a holiday on the first Monday in May, some countries have a holiday on 1st May. The challenge is to take a photo of the sun setting over these next few days and send us your best shot.
For those who haven’t taken sunsets before – the best time to take them is usually around 20 minutes either side of the actual sunset. Do check when it sets in your area. Quite often I get caught eating my dinner when the sun is setting 🙂
We do have bloggers from around the world following us and I would like to create something like 24-hours of sunsets from around the world.
THE RULES
1) Clearly, the photo must be of a sunset. The composition of the rest of the photo is up to your creativity.
2) Keep photoshopping to a minimum please. A little tweaking of colours is fine if needed. This isn’t meant to be an exercise in photoshopping, more to marvel at natures beauty.
3) Photos can be taken on your phone or camera. Whatever is easiest.
4) Please upload the photo to your own blog, add a link to this post, and put a comment on this post to let us know you have completed the challenge.
5) Please remember to include your blog name and link to your post so we can give you full credit.
6) We are likely to get a lot of people on this one, so please only ONE photo per person. We won’t have time to pick your best photo – it’s up to you to send it to us.
7) The deadline for this will be 23:59 Sunday, 4th May (London, UK time).
8) Finally, don’t worry if the photo isn’t that great – it’s the taking part that’s important.

Thank you. It was lovely there.
danny, another entry was posted on my homepage – http://ozbonsolutions.wordpress.com/2014/05/03/sunset-in-iowa/
I don’t know why but WP don’t allow me to added any link… Do you know why?
I can’t select the paper click.
You will need to type in some text and then highlight it. Then you should be able to click the paper clip.
Thanks, finally I achieve it. http://elcaminoalacima.wordpress.com/2014/05/02/atardecer/
Didn’t quite work for me, but never mind. Don’t worry about it. I have your entry, so you should see them over the next few days. Thanks.

Wait a minute, I have a photo but I don’t post it yet in my blog. I do it soon. 🙂
Thanks – please add a link on your post to https://doncharisma.org/2014/04/30/bank-holiday-weekend-sunset-challenge/. Beautiful sunset BTW :).
I do it now, but I don’t know if I do it well? If something is wrong tell me and I correct it. (Sorry but what does BTW mean?)
BTW means By The Way. Forgot you’re not from these parts!
If you want to add a link you will need to edit the post with your sunset . At the end add something like –
This is my entry in Don Charisma’s Sunset Challenge
Then highlight the words Don Charisma’s Sunset Challenge and click the funny paper clip looking icon just above the editing box. This will allow you to create a link.
In the URL box put –
https://doncharisma.org/2014/04/30/bank-holiday-weekend-sunset-challenge/
Finally click ‘Add Link’, then click ‘Publish’ and that should be it.
Give it a go and see if you can manage it. Otherwise don’t worry too much. You already sent us a link.
Hope to see one from you…
EPIC
Hope you take part 🙂
Cool! We have great sunsets in West Texas in the States. I don’t have a fancy camera, but I’ll see what I can do! 🙂
Don usually takes his with his iPhone with great results. Good luck and look forward to seeing your entry.
Stunning!
Leslie
Thanks Leslie – hope you’re going to enter…
Hey Dannyboy,
I live in Canada so I won’t qualify.
Leslie
Hi Leslie, it’s not limited to UK entries only – so long as you can take a sunset, you can enter 🙂
Hi Dannyboy,
Sorry I’ve been kind of busy. I just released my new album “Manaus Where Two Rivers Meet”. It has taken all evening. It will be available in iTunes/ Amazon.com etc. in a few days.
As for the sunset, we haven’t seen a sun set for so long. It has done nothing but rain for the last few days.
One would think it was the deluge.
Leslie
No worries Leslie. I quite often take sunsets covered by clouds. Sometimes they’re more interesting than regular sunsets. Maybe next time. Good luck with the album. I have seen Don making comments about some music. I’ll have to take a listen sometime.
It will be a day or two before the album becomes available. You will be able to access it from my web page when it is out. Also you can check out iTunes (swo8 Blues Jazz).
As for the sunset, well you need a sun for that and we haven’t seen the sun for so long – forget about sunrise/sunset.
Leslie
I’ll keep a look out. Shame you haven’t seen the sun for a while. Never mind it’ll be summer soon over there.
We are beginning to wonder if it will ever come. One of my songs on the new album is called “Winter Blues”. It really says it all. I’m afraid I couldn’t help laughing in it. It was the winter that just wouldn’t stop.
Leslie
I did see some of those terrible snow storms hitting America, and now flooding in some parts. Times are changing fast.
It’s a real mess. Nature is definitely trying to tell us something via the climate. We, personally, are okay as far as the flooding is concerned, but there are a lot of people here who are not okay.
Leslie
Glad to hear you are ok. We had some terrible flooding here earlier this year too. It’s sad to think all your life can be washed away just like that.
We saw that Britain was having a lot of flooding. There seems to some flooding all over the world. We had better get into our adaptive mode very quickly. If we could only stop arguing about what is causing it all.
Leslie
I just posted a beautiful picture from Buffalo, New York of the sunset over the Niagara River last night. Being new to blogging I have no idea how to add your link to my blog…sorry
Hi Tina (?), if you want to add a link you will need to edit the post with your sunset (Heavens Light right?). At the end add something like –
This is my entry in Don Charisma’s Sunset Challenge
Then highlight the words Don Charisma’s Sunset Challenge and click the funny paper clip looking icon just above the editing box. This will allow you to create a link.
In the URL box put –
https://doncharisma.org/2014/04/30/bank-holiday-weekend-sunset-challenge/
Finally click ‘Add Link’, then click ‘Publish’ and that should be it.
Give it a go, otherwise we might forget you by the end of the weekend!
You will be our first entrant if you manage to add the link 🙂
Danny.
Thank you so much for the help!! I think I did it right!! Can’t wait to see all the pictures coming through. Really enjoy your site!! Tina
Glad to help Tina. When you add a link to someone else’s wordpress site, they get a ‘pingback’ – a message to say someone’s created a link. Looks like you set it up perfectly, as I have received a message.
Well done. We’ll be publishing the results at the end of the weekend, so you’ll have to wait a few days.
Nice pic from a moving car – it’s always tough to get those right.
Reblogged this on Mon site officiel / My official website.
Thanks for the reblog. Hope you’re going to enter.
