In Spanish… aguacate. Yum.
“Agua” is water if I remember correctly, so what then is “cate” ?
Okay, so I had to look this up, apparently aguacate comes from the Aztec word ‘ahuacatl’ which means testicle. I don’t how I feel about that, lol.
LOL … that’s funny … Nothing wrong with testicles !
Lol true, but tell me if you will ever see them the same way again…I told my husband and now it will be something we we laugh at any time we see one.
LOL, perhaps my perception has changed, it’s funny all the same 🙂
Definitely!
🙂
Abokago if you wish to retranscript to Cyrillic :p
Russian market?
Yes that would make sense actually, a logical explanation, plenty of Russians about … I thought maybe it was a Thai mispronunciation 🙂
I have to ask, only because I’ve been curious for so long: where are you from? You post images, etc. from Asia mostly but I think I remember something about the UK. Thanx
I’m from the UK, but spend most of my time now in Thailand …
Ahh. Thanx.
You’re welcome 🙂
Mmmm! Love avocados! They taste like butter… It’s hard to keep them from turning though. It’s almost an art to catch them just at the right time. Just looking at these is making me slobber all over myself! Yum!
LOL, I threw out 2 of the last 3 I bought, haven’t mastered ripening them yet !!!!
LOL! Same same. It’s like you’ve got to eat them all the same day!
Totally … next time I think I’ll buy just one or two … and need to dig out that guacamole recipe !
