Pretty Flowers

These are in the dentist’s secret garden. I couldn’t decide which one I like best, so I posted them both.

Enjoy

  1. I have painted so many of these flowers on fake surfboards used for tv props one year LOL. It’s nice to see some real ones. For awhile there I was able to paint them in my sleep – but in real life they’re so much more complex and delicate. Great pic, as always.

    1. Part of the artists skill is in stylising and simplifying I know this very much from my little cartooning … it’s a real skill !

And yes really very ornate in real life >:D

  2. Beautiful shots of the flowers! And such a nice pink colour. Usually it’s red ones that I see, pink ones are quite unusual to me.

      1. The male parts of a flower are often the most striking (anther, stigma, etc) it’s where the most detail is. The macro setting should be default on my camera lol 🙂 x

      2. For sure, I don’t know much about biology/botany, hadn’t realised they are male parts, so I leant something new … not sure my iPhone has a macro setting I just put it close up and try to get it to focus, sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn’t 🙂

      3. Ah botany is fascinating! I’m a trainee horticulturist lol 🙂 I’m always surprised at the great quality of photos taken with iphones/smartphones, it’s often as good as having a proper camera x

      4. lol, well there’s only so thin i can spread myself … and you know what, I like that people can correct me and fill me in … gives my readers something to do, lazy so and so’s !

yes pretty much, smartphones can do some amazing shots these days … maybe I’ll venture in the “Pro” camera world at some point, but really no rush for me …

  3. Gorgeous! We have these all around our neighborhood in Panama – you can pluck them up and make tea out of them 🙂

  4. the second one is my fav – the angle makes it look like the pistil is growing – but both shots are beautiful = and this used to be one of my favorite flowers = but I think this is a hybrid Hibiscus – either way – your dentist must have a nice garden!! glad you were privy to it.

    1. I couldn’t chose, so posted both … the lighting is slightly different and the first photo is slightly more detailed … not my dentist BTW, just happened to be passing and saw a photo op !

  5. The flowers are very beautiful, but my favorite is the second picture. The reflection of the sky is amazing. It adds to the beauty of this photo. Great job capturing all of this beauty 🙂

      1. I am doing alright, considering I have a fractured left wrist and am still trying to have a place of my own by way of either a subsidized housing program somewhere, nice clean cut roommate or moving from Ca.
        How are you?

I wanted to tell you I nominated you for The Light of The World Award.
I couldnt seem to save the jpg file award, but you’ll see it on Amreen Shaikh’s site Painttheworldwithwords.wordpress.com.

Beautiful photos you have been creating these days.

      2. Thanks hun, much appreciated 🙂 All well thanks, occasional bumps in the road, but that’s life …

Don’t know what to say over the housing issue, it’s unsettling not knowing where we’re going to live I know … Keep looking and stay positive, I’m sure something that you like will come up soon …

        Cheers
