Chinese Bat-Man and his Deer

It’s crazy when I look at these photos in more detail. This guy has a bat on the top of his cane.

He lives close by to one of the pagodas at lower Big Buddha Hill.

  1. Ran through the comments and it seems like your resident Asian expert sounds like me :))
Well, this old man is Longevity in the trio “Fortune, Prosperity, Longevity”. I’ve seen him with deers before because deers are the symbol of longevity as well. The bat is a little foreign to me cuz I don’t speak Chinese. According to the source below, the words for longevity and bats in Chinese are homophones so people associate the images.

I was pretty amused when you called him the Chinese Bat-man :)) and that comment on bat-carrier is fantastic too.

    1. You’d be entirely correct on that, so thanks for that … and thankyou for adding to my posts, it’s most helpful, interesting and enlightening …

Like to try and mix a bit of humour as and when I can think of it, and glad you saw the funnyness in it:)
