I ventured out to for a little bit of exercise after getting some sunrise photos, and on the way back these caught my eye. They are attached to a tree with the aid of a coconut shell, so these flowers are suspended in mid-air for a close up. I’ll post the wider angle shot later so you can see this plant lives.

They are a variety of orchid, quite big flowers. They aren’t expensive to buy here I’ve heard a plant like this would be like $5 (or less) if memory serves, that’s £3 in real money 😉

I remember the orchids growing in marshy patches of land back home, but those were very very small in comparison. Always very beautiful ornate flowers, I can see why they are so popular with people:)
