For me there is always something missing in Churchill’s quotes.
How could that be that strength and intelligence are not needed? Isn’t at least the effort supported by strength?
That’ll be in your interpretation … Churchill didn’t say “and intelligence are not needed” … he said “Continuous effort! not strength or intelligence” … my interpretation is simply that he’s taking about persistence and diligence, which are strong and intelligent in and of themselves 😀

Thanks for the reblog 😀
Resilience, persistence, strong mindedness, always willing to try just one more time! It’s the greatest key to achievement. Always try until you get it right.
You’re a wise man 😀
Studies for a long time have shown IQ and test scores dont determine success in life but the ability to delay gratification. i.e. Offering young children one piece of candy now or two pieces in twenty minutes, those who chose two were often more successful later in life
Makes sense … a lot of the most wealthy men didn’t get a “good” education … perhaps says something about the way we educate people !
I totally agree! Perseverance is one of the best drives to achieve something important!
Never give up !
Effort is what makes you pick ur self up time and time again.

I think this is what our children need to know. They expect instant success and results, can’t seem to hang in for the long haul. We’ve done them a disservice by providing them with everything.
So the hope is that they’ll learn for themselves along the way …
Hi Don, I have a new poem, I would like your expert opinion on if you have the time;
I did finish it. None too thrilled with the name though, any suggestions?
I call it Fearing Security
I wish that you could understand
These feelings you could comprehend
Desire burns my soul to bare
But tell you? No I do not dare.
My conscience and all it holds therein
Does reprimand my wayward bend
Engaged in passions all its own,
My mind wants to be left alone.
I’m torn; emotions pull both ways.
I “must be righteous all my days”
I want to, though this need is there;
It crowds out every other care.
Then you appear with weapons drawn
To storm my castle, and haunt its halls.
You tear down all protective walls,
strip my defenses, and leave me raw.
Exposed, I seek a place to hide,
Where safety dwells I must reside.
I turn to run, but you are there,
A strange and unfamiliar air.
You bind me in your arms of steel,
I feel secure, there’s no more tears.
And now my thoughts are very clear,
I run to you, but I ran from fear.
There are no more lonely castle halls,
For love and peace have conquered all.
Thanks, it’s lovely … again I hope you blogged it !
Personally I think it’s best you title it, I generally throw a few ideas around and look in dictionary thesarus for alternatives … how about “Confident Vulnerability” …
Yes it is. As the carbon becomes diamond with continuous polish, there is no intelligence or strength of the carbon, but its potential which makes it diamond.
😀
Deep within us is the power to change the trajectory of human lives! But we must work it out! The key word here, “WORK”. When we do, the Holy Spirit gives passion and strength to achieve something amazing.
Well said !
it s true
😀
This ideology is a rule that I’ve lived by for a very long time. With enough effort results will surely follow. It’s takes a whole lot of persistence and sweat equity to see your goal materialize. It’s been said that if you don’t fail at least three or more times your not going to see the end results. All the great ones have gone through this. Effort , effort, effort.
That’s very well put, and yes mirrors my experience … occasionally life has lady luck shine on us, but most of the time it’s hard work that counts !
