HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014 … this is my first post in 2014 (GMT), it’s FRESHLY PRESSED.
This is a new award freshly pressed today. No one else has these badges on their blog, so it’s EXCLUSIVE to DonCharisma.org.
The idea is entirely my own, I created the award because I’m not on WordPress’ Freshly Pressed (FP) and probably 99.99% of other bloggers aren’t either. Seems some are envious that they aren’t on FP, others couldn’t care less about FP. It’s seen as an elite accolade in WordPress circles, if you’re on it, you’re at the top table, you’ve made it, you’re in the VIP, “THE” clique. Others will certainly get on their hands and knees and pay homage to you, you clever so and so. Or NOT as the case may be.
To get “made” (reminds me of Goodfellas) as a “Freshly Pressed” blog, your post and blog have to pass human editors. I’m guessing their equation includes a fairly stringent politically correctness checks, moral decency checks and a popularity gauge. Viral posts will have more chance of getting onto FP. And of course there are some special sauce ingredients – I don’t know what they are, could be masonic handshakes or bizarre initiation ceremonies involving donkeys, for all I know. Either way most of us won’t ever get on “Freshly Pressed”, so I’ve created this award for a little bit of fun, mostly.
I’ve freshly pressed you a new badge, well four in fact so you can choose, yay. They aren’t available anywhere else, so get them whilst they’re freshly pressed 🙂
The bloggers that I’ve nominated are all very inspiring and positive people, whom I’m very proud to call friends, or as close to friends as it gets on WordPress. All of them have many “Freshly Pressed” posts in them, and their blogs already contain freshly pressed material as far as I’m concerned 🙂
If you don’t accept Awards then please pass on to someone else who may like it or just know it’s the thought that counts.

Ever since I posted my first post back in July-2013 I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my blogging experiences on WordPress. I’m always looking for ways to reach a wider audience, so Freshly Pressed could help me achieve that. Who knows maybe one day my work will be up to the required standard, and I’ll be a Freshly Pressed rock star too 🙂

Nice to see an award that isn’t the usual sycophantic style that gets passed around, like a patronising air-kiss or something. I’ve read a couple or few of Opinionated Man’s posts about the whole Freshly Pressed phenomenon, and mostly agree with his (and your) sentiments about this.
I run a blog with a mild profanity (!shock!) in the blog title, and discuss quite a few ‘negative’ issues, which obviously won’t get me nominated for anything that relies on me being ‘inspirational’ – and that is just fine by me… I won’t change my content or my style just to garner a collection of pixels and a bit of hollow praise.
Anyway, just wanted to comment here, and let you know that I appreciate your posts, especially your usually wonderful photographs, appearing in my reader. Cheers!
Thanks that’s very kind 😀 … I think FP has it’s place, and I understand why it is what it is ! … however a lot of bloggers will never ever see it, which is sad in a way, mostly because I think all blogs are written to be read …
