2. Great quote. Watched Michael Jordan grow up on the UNC basketball court. He wasn’t always as great as he became, but he tried! He actually wasn’t a great player in high school, but Dean Smith saw something in him. It was determination. And look what a difference that made.

3. I have not delved into this but beyond luck and so called talent; I wonder if there are studies in regards to what makes a person unsuccessful (to a defined standard). I work with many people on the lower end of the income scale and some seem stuck where they are at.

   They work hard. Very hard. But only in the realms of what they are given. Even at work, they seem to lack a mindset of doing more than the actual job description. They love the status quo no matter where it lands them.

   Then there is my fiance. She came from a poor area in Brazil. Her mother created a salon and made it stand out more than the countless others in the area with great customer service so it is thriving. My fiance loved school and she spent hours teaching herself to speak English. People who speak English in her city are the vast minority. When she was able to put herself into an English course; she tested out and was in Intermediate 3 level. Now she is studying to be a professor while working in the salon.

   All because she tries to improve herself.

6. Spoken like a true competitor. Although the best competition-related quote I’ve ever seen was in the Peanuts strip…

   Winning isn’t everything…
   …but losing isn’t ANYTHING!!!
