      1. Aw, sorry – “Working On the Business vs Working In the Business” – the former means you are in control of the business separate from you as a person whilst the latter is letting the business own you. This is where most farmers fall, they want to do all the intern level jobs rather than making the upper level management changes and decisions to make the business run more smoothly. Not all bad, of course, we enjoy building fence, fixing water tanks, and all the mundane chores, but, without someone actually in charge, once we die, the business dies – the land sells. Farmers and ranchers have vision – but the business does not because of the failure to work on the business. does this make any sense at all!? Others can explain it better.

      2. Very much makes sense, I understood it from Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad – he makes the distinction between a business owner and a self-employed person … the business owner could take a break for a few months and come back still have a business … the self-employed person wouldn’t 😀

  1. An excellent quote from Franklin and one that he himself practiced. How much was due to his superior intellect? Another founding father of a group of remarkable men I would have loved to meet.

    1. Who knows, I never met the guy so couldn’t say … perhaps he was smart, perhaps he was just good at marketing 😀

And yes definitely be fascinating to bring him back to life and have a chat with him !
