4. I think he’s right. But a better quote would have been “To be happy we must not be too concerned with ourselves.”

   1. Perhaps … I think the point is that we need to make ourselves happy first, then we have a much better capacity to make others happy … or if we’re constantly trying to please others, it’s not going to make us happy …
