These two “princesses” are outside one of the local bars. I think they have some religious significance because the Thais leave those little bottles of drinks at shrines too. They are very cute, colourful and well beautiful really.
As a side note you often see little guppy fish in these small water features. Reason, they eat the mosquito larvae, so act as a control on the mosquito population.

I like “her” face ! Beauty statue picture. If you please, I will copy one of them.
Thank’s before.
You are welcome. As long as you give credit and link back to my post, then yes that’s fine 🙂 And thanks for asking, very polite of you 🙂
Princess Rosebud (my nom de plume) loves this!
🙂
These are lovely. I’m glad you found out exactly what they are. 🙂
Helpful, amazing what you can get on the internet these days 🙂
PS I have a couple of posts I need a peer review. I need someone with their head screwed on and discrete, I thought of you. Are you able to help ?
No worries. I have about another half an hour before I need to get ready for work. Otherwise I won’t get to them until this afternoon. But feel free to email me 🙂
The peer review on the editor does email automagically, do it when you have time, don’t rush, readers don’t miss what they don’t know about. I have to write stuff when it comes to me or I never do it, so my timing may not be great.
If I’m asking for a review there’s a possibility I won’t post.
There is a peer review??? Well the things you learn.
So it will come by email or I have to do something magic?? Magic isn’t one of my stronger points you know.
Fair enough. I’m running out of time this morning, so later will be it 🙂
Do it when you can. It’s an option in the editor, I give it your email address and then you’re able to preview the post on my blog, and make comments on what’s good and what’s not. Cheers DC
PS it’s still a draft, so I’ll review it again before send it so will be later anyway 🙂
She’s Mae (Mother) Thoranee (Earth).
She protected Buddha from Mara and his demons, while he was meditating under the bodhi tree. She wrung out her hair, and created floods (symbolic of all the merit – good deeds – Buddha had made during his lifetime), which washed away all the demons, thus enabling Buddha to attain enlightenment.
She’s often found close to water features, ponds, etc.
🙂
That’s awesome, thankyou so much, now I have two resident Asian culture experts … often I don’t know about thing I photograph and do my best in descriptions, so this is really helpful, thank you 🙂
Oh gosh, I’m not an expert at all… I just happen to live in Chiang Mai!
(I also take photos and hope that others will enlighten me…. that’s what the internet is for, no?!)
Well you’re more of an expert than I am about water princesses LOL
And yes great when someone comes along and fills in the blanks 🙂
555! See, I always knew my mine of useless information would come in handy one day!
Are you still in LOS?
:), yes still here… since early 2012 off and on …
I tend to ignore requests for my location information, but do make exceptions when there’s some trust !
Warm regards
DC
Totally get that… although it’s not too difficult to work out which end of the country you’re in! 🙂
So we’ve been here for a similar amount of time, it seems; I got here at the beginning of March last year. I love Thailand sooooo much!
Same, I’m much happier than I was in London, it’s warm, it’s not gray, the people are generally happier and most of the time well I’m just enjoying myself more 🙂
Agreed! On Saturday, we’ll be arriving in London for Chrimbo etc….. brrrrrrrrr!
Yuk, sorry to hear that !
It will be good to catch up with friends and family but I’m absolutely not looking forward to the weather. **shudder**
I’m back end of Jan which will be similarly cold, which I’m not used to now, feels cold today and it must be 23 degrees ! … visa, see friends, bit of business and then bye bye to the United States of England, hello LOS !
Maybe even colder by then, DC. Hope you have a good trip nonetheless!
I know but it’s only a few days, and I’m not a lanky dieter, so have some “insulation” to keep me warm LOL
Safe trip back home, keep in touch, friends in LOS helpful 🙂
Really nice princesses, thanks for sharing.
Irene
🙂 you’re welcome !
