Danny posted yesterday about the saddening Thai Suicides. The post didn’t publish correctly (WordPress on the blink I think) – so if you missed it it’s here – https://doncharisma.org/2020/04/21/thai-suicides/
Reports Danny’s heard today are that things may be opening up economy wise in Thailand shortly, so hopefully, that’ll work out OK for the folks who’re struggling. Official reports also indicate that COVID-19, is a *relatively* minor problem in Thailand.
I thought it worth bringing again to your attention The Befrienders Worldwide (who I hadn’t heard of before) and the Samaritans. They are volunteers who “man”/”woman” phones (sometimes 24/7/365) to speak to people who are having difficulties in their lives, usually desperate to the point of feeling suicidal.
Obviously use a bit of common sense and don’t contact them, unless it *really* is necessary, as you could be tying up the line, where someone who’s really suicidal can’t get through.
The Befriender’s Worldwide have contact telephone numbers in many countries on their website :
“Whatever you’re going through, a Samaritan will face it with you.” – The Samaritans UK
Thailand – http://www.samaritansthai.com/
UK – https://www.samaritans.org/
Tel: 116 123 (Free)
US – http://www.samaritansusa.org/
Tel: 1 (800) 273-TALK (I think 1 800 is a free to call number in USA)
I’ve been in a few tough spots myself, and others helping me made all the difference, so – Thankyou to Befrienders Worldwide and Samaritans, for being the change *we all* want to see in the world – without good people like them in the World, we’d be lost. Real heroes.
Hope you are safe and stays that way.
