  1. Thank you for subscribing to my blog. I hope you will enjoy the pictures I publish. And I do hope you will leave me critique if the photo gives you any reason for that!

    1. HI Chris, my pleasure and thanks for following my blog … I couldn’t see any way to leave comments for, sorry if I’m being dumb doh ! … I’ve been playing around with Panorama recently, have you thought about using that for capturing wider images ? Cheers Don Charisma

      1. Hey Chris, Never though of that, doh !

No, it’s a way of stitching multiple photos together … Photoshop has “Photomerge”, as doesn’t Photoshop elements … There also products such as PTGui Pro … Cheers Don Charisma

  2. Thank you for following my blog. I hope you find something of interest in each of your paths. I too am a bit of a phoenix–having had to re-emerge and reinvent myself from the ashes of my former self and life. Best wishes on your journey, doncharisma.

    1. Hi Adrian, thanks for your kind words and dropping in on my blog:) As and when I get filled with Charisma, I keep writing and living life to the full … I’ve left you a comment direct on your blog … Cheers Don Charisma

  3. Thank you for liking my “about” post and for including it in your links I am about to do the same for you. I am also now following you as you are following me

  4. mmmm……………charisma – oh yes – you can go a long way in life with that. But you know, the thing that really impresses me about you is that you did a 10 day vipassana retreat. A pretty big effort and well done.

Thanks for starting to follow me and I am looking forward to more from you as well.

    1. Hey there, thanks for your kind words and following my blog … here’s me hoping you’re not easily impressed LOL … Vipassana sounds easy but 10 days sitting on the floor 16 hours a day, with no food before lunchtime and no talking to anyone … it’s challenging 🙂

Will do my best to impress in the future … have left you a comment direct on your blog … cheers Don Charisma

  5. Hi Don, thanks for introducing yourself by following our site. Yours is wise, witty and slightly wicked–we look forward to exploring it further. By the way, we invite you to visit the RAXA Collective facebook page too. See you there…

  6. Hi Don – nice to meet you – you are a fascinating and multifaceted being with a very cool blog. Thank you for your visit and follow at art rat cafe – I am honoured….

    1. Hey John thansks for your kind comments and following my blog:) I’ve left you a comment direct on my blog. I’ve just finished my second portrait cartoon, when I’ve posted it, be useful to get any feedback or tips, as I’m still learning, devil is in the detail!

  7. Somewhere along the line things are getting messed up. I think you responded to my first comment but it got treated somehow as a post on my blog and I was asked to moderate it. Since it was obviously a reply to my comment here, and not a comment to my blog post, I deleted it. I had asked to be notified of any follow-up comments on my earlier comment and I guess that somehow your comment here got forwarded to my blog. WordPress identified your comment as a comment on my Post “About” which I don’t have such a post or even category. If you were intending to have the comment attached to one of my posts, I am sorry for deleting it, I like comments and conversations about what I say.

  8. Thank you for following my little blog. I love the book, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior too! Have you seen the movie? Look forward to read more from you. 🙂

    1. Hey Joanne, thansk for your kind comments and following my blog:) A very dear friend recommended peaceful warrior books, and very happy that she did. I’m more of a movie person that a book person, I love what they do with the visuals and audios to deliver the message. SO yes I’ve seen the movie and read the books (a rare thing for me). It’s a bit cliche but the book has more to offer than the movie, I guess moviemakers have limited resources and viewer attention spans to contend with ! Cheers Don Charisma

    1. Hey Angie, thankyou for your kind words and following my blog, I’ve left a comment direct on your blog:) … I’m looking for a Mac and Cheese recipe with cornflour and rice flour, could you help ? Also I’m without oven, so have to be baked on a hob on a slow heat or grilled in a microwave (with grill), any ideas on how to do that ?

      1. Ooooohhhh! I love a challenge! But first I need to know of any other dietary restrictions ( besides the obvious wheat thing).

Have you tried brown rice Pasta? It’s my favourite alternative to wheat. I use the Tinkyada brand. Closest to wheat that I’ve tried.

I’ll be waiting to hear from you!

        Cheers!

      2. Hey Angie, I’m vegetarian … ish … I don’t actually have any wheat intolerance or anything like that (as far as I know) … it’s expensive to buy wheat flour here and I figured you might know how to cook mac’n’cheese without wheat flour… also might be a good blog article ? … looking around at recipes I’ve seen on the web and my own tastes I reckon mustard and garlic would go well well with the cheese. Let me know 😉

  9. Hello, thanks for passing by and following my blog. I do find your blog inspiring and particularly, I love your “about page”…what you said about the three rules of life. Enjoy 🙂

  10. Thanks for the tip about the blank About page. I’ll track it down and delete it. Your blog is inspiringly cool. I share many of your travel gripes, but I must say BA Club is sweet.

  11. Thank you for following my blog. I hope that you enjoy the insight you gain into computer use induced health conditions from my blogs

  12. Dynamite banner and self-portrait! THANKS for subscribing to my funny-caption photoblog, TheDailyGraff.com. I hope I can bring you a smile (or at least a groan) every weekday.

  18. Thank you for following my blog. I love your site. I am new to blogging and don’t have a lot of experience with source code. I’ve joined the Affiliate program with Amazon and have not been able to figure out how to use the html code they provide (aside from text) on my blog. I am going to try using the information on source code you provided to see if that works. Do you have any other suggestions?

    1. my pleasure and thank you so much for your kind words …

please confirm this elsewhere, but it’s my understanding that you need a paid blog if you want to do any kind of selling from it (ie adsense or Amazon affiliates) … *but please confirm this elsewhere* … I tried to add Amazon affiliates to my blog (a free blog) and couldn’t do it the same as you …

I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

      Keep in touch …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

      1. Thanks for getting back to me. You can add Amazon Affiliate links, but only the text. So what I’ve been doing is just adding them at the end of any article for people who might be interested in purchasing a book based on a post. (Zealot by Reza Aslan was popular.)

I’ve added you to blogs I follow on my site. Is that different from friends?

      2. I’ve added a “friends” category in my links and link to everyone that follows me … if others do the same google may see it as a reciprocal link which helps us get found in google – this is the thinking behind it 🙂

Thanks for the affiliates tip, i will probably go paid soon so have more scope to include my own adverts

  19. Thanks for your blog. It’s varied, interesting andinspiring, without being too overpowering or stuffed over the top.. just right.

You know my blog. It’s a different type of beastie altogether, more of a collection of short stories from life to read on the train, at the kitchen table over a Sunday morning coffee, or of a quiet evening at home. Therefore, and I can quite appreciate this, the following for my sort of blog is always going to be somewhat limited. Having seen what I do, can you help advise me how to start to increase readershio beyond my immediate friends/family and a handful of interested bloggers?

    Thank you 🙂

    1. Hey Uncle Spike, my pleasure and thanks for your kind words …

In terms of promoting your blog, there are many things you can do, here are some ideas :

      1. Make the most of your “tags” aka “keywords”, more is good, these will help you get found in google. Label all photos meaningfully google finds these too.
      2. Be friendly with other bloggers, follow related blogs, like their articles and make meaningful comment.
      3. Consider using IFTTT to distribute your content onto other sites such as facebook, twitter, linkedin etc
      4. Be persistent and realise that building an audience takes time and effort
      5. Write meaningful content and keep at it (see 4 above !)
      6. Monitor your site stats and see what articles get the most reads. If you want you could write more articles on the hot topics, this will get more interest
      7. Reblog the occasional article, this helps with links
      8. Put links on your posts and on your blog. Where there is a reciprocal link this will help.
      9. Be creative, leverage your skills and time, think of new ideas and implement them. There is plenty of advice out there on promoting yourself, so take the time to look around, try things.

      Hope this is useful.

      Sincerely
      Don Charisma

      1. my pleasure mike, main thing is persistence and effort with a sprinkle of creativity and passion, keep on chipping away at it and the rewards will come, if that makes sense !

  20. Thanks Don for stopping by and following my blog. Hope you learn something useful, as I intend to do same, by joining this blogging world.

      1. Thanks for adding me to the friend’s list. That’s nice idea.

btw, do you know what’s the best app for WordPress to use on Android ? I downloaded WordPress, but most of its features don’t work, saying connection error, except Reader, Stats, Comments. I posted query on WordPress support forum, but didn’t get reply past 3 weeks.
        tc.
        Shuja

      2. Hey Shuja,

My pleasure, from my understanding of SEO it helps us get found on google, especially if you reciprocate … and presumably anyone doing a blog would want to get found !

Can’t help on the Android I’m afraid, I got myself all Apple’ed up with iPad and iPhone, so don’t have any android device. Since Steve Jobs passed, Apple has gone downhill, so next upgrade I’ll be looking at Samsung/Android, in fact already bought a Samsung laptop and very pleased with it.

        TC same …

        Don Charisma

      3. Alright. I also attached my blog site with Google and Microsoft search engines, and naturally many people land on my blog now through search.

Regarding Android, you’re right, I also read that Samsung recently overtook iPhone in market share worldwide. They’re already famous for TV. Guess, they’re doing good research.

      1. Pizza, I’ve already chosen … Italian’s yup food is great, style they know a thing about, language sounds tuneful one of the nicest around especially in contrast to German, but never really found the women much fun:(

  21. Thank you Don for following my blog, I appreciate it a lot! Yours looks inspiring and informative! I will take time to have a better look around.

  22. My sir, we are talented and can turn one’s hand to anything, a never say never kind of attitude. Impressed. Came over to say thanks so much for the follow, really appreciated and hope you like most of what is to come. Cheers and now to check you out further, MM 🍀

  32. Thanks for the follow. Reading your blog, I’m convinced you’d make an excellent contributor. If you ever wish to send me your 5 reads, please feel free. Email address is on the “About 5 reads” page.

    1. Thanks and my pleasure … that’s an interesting proposition, I will see if I can think of 5 books that have changed my life, probably more like 50 !

So that I’m sure you’re not a spammer or robot, please just reply with a few things that you liked or noticed about my blog…

I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

      Keep in touch …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

      1. Not a bot, not a spammer. Pinkieswear! I asked you to contribute because of your About page, which shows a breadth and depth of knowledge and experience that is… unusual. Engineering, instructing people in diving, teaching yourself search engine optimization. That’s a wide range. The two things that pushed me to ask you, though, were the posts on “I Make Money Online, The Anatomy of A Scam” and your post on helping your London friend with the property maintenance company getting his website back up to snuff. That shows a genuine willingness and desire to help people. The nature of my blog requires assistance from others (who have to submit books and “whys” in order for me to have any content to put up)… so far, it’s tough to get a response from anyone, much less people I don’t know. I’m simply attempting to take advantage of your helpful nature by asking 🙂

      2. 🙂 OK, I was fairly sure that you weren’t anyway.

I REALLY like what you’re doing and will help you, and believe this will also help me. It’s a question of finding time and thinking of five books. I can think of five books, but would like to choose so it’s helpful to other people. Also films have had a big influence on me, I’m natively more of a film person than a book person, perhaps I like stories being told to me, rather than having to tell them to myself, perhaps I’m lazy, depends on perspective – people I believe are more or less dyslexic, the very less dyslexic can read mountains of books without batting an eyelid, the most dyslexic probably would struggle with a children’s Aesops fables book. Make sense ?

Suggestion perhaps, when you’re looking for contributors, connect with them a little bit. Don’t have to spend massive amount of time reading the entire blog, just get a gist of what the blogger is about and relay that back to them and there’s a reason why you chosen them, like you’ve done after I asked you to … Also perhaps gently suggest that it helps them promote their own blog, website, page etc ? Also don’t loose heart because it’s tough to get a response, worthwhile endeavours always take effort and persistence:)

I will and I like to help people, but don’t like to have to do things for them over and over (unless they actually can’t do it for themselves), for me it’s like the adage of the fish – “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”

So I will help, I have a busy schedule over the next couple of weeks, so I will do my best:)

        OK ?

        Cheers

        Don Charisma

      3. Excellent, thank you. And thanks for the advice as well. Much appreciated. No rush on the contribution at all.

      4. My pleasure. I’m still working on my organisation skills, so please don’t hesitate to remind me. I’m flying over the weekend, so hopefully get some time to think about it then (I’m up to 2 books so far !) .. Cheers Don Charisma

Nice to see that you`re a dive instructor. Well, it took my attention ’cause I`m from a Diver`s Paradise and I love the underwater world even though I don`t have a diving brevet. I always loved snorkeling! Thanks a lot for the follow and have a beautiful week!

    1. Hey Nadyness, great to hear from you and thanks for your kind words, and that you actually read my about page and blog. I try my best to talk about stuff that means something to me, and writing about what I’m doing help me to remember things, also helps to make me a better teacher … I really like the quote “I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.” – Anne Frank, The Diary of a young girl. … reminds me of how I’ve gotten through some hard times, it’s a great way of saying it:)

    1. Hey there, thanks for dropping by … I’d like my blog to be about different topics that are things from what I’m doing in my daily life and work … glad you find useful and always happy to have graphic designer friends as not one of my strong points ! … I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

      Keep in touch …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

  39. So true!
“- Paradox: Life is a mystery; don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.

    – Humor: Keep a sense of humor, especially about yourself. It is a strength beyond all measure

    – Change: Know that nothing ever stays the same.”
    Love it, gotta repost 🙂

    1. Hey Love Gg … thanks for stopping by … A very dear friend of mine encouraged me to read the Peaceful Warrior books, I greatly enjoyed, very powerful writing by Dan Millman … I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

      Keep in touch …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

    1. Hey there, love your poetry, it’s on my list to hone my writing skills, but I find it very challenging to write so colourfully and descriptively, bringing emotions to life like that is a miracle … I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

      Keep in touch …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

      1. Thank you for the kind words 🙂 I agree.. Though I tag them as such, I don’t really think it is poetry.. Just pouring out my thoughts.. Even so, thank you again. And I have no clue how to add people onto links, but I will try to find out and do it. Although, if I am unable to do so, will ask for you to guide me 🙂

      2. My Pleasure:) I think poetry is expressing feelings and emotions, i have written some myself…others like to be able to relate, so words that describe something they’ve been finding hard to express is valuable … don’t worry about the links, it’s quite easy to do and entirely optional… for search engines they like reciprocal linking, that is I link to you, you link to me, to I guess distinguish between popular and unpopular sites … I’ve added a category friends in my links and this is how it’s done :
        adding a new link wordpress

        Good luck:)

        Keep in touch …

        Cheers

        Don Charisma

      3. 🙂 exactly … been trying to express through helping people and talking about stuff that I’m doing … my poetry is usually quite intimate and I’m not a big fan of critics when it comes to things that are truly close to home … best to share those things with people who really love and accept me:) … ie I’m a big softy at heart LOL

      4. I know what you mean .. It took me almost a decade to actually start my blog where I could post my stuff.. Whenever I thought I should start one, I backtracked, each & every single time! Though it was not exactly for the critics part but they were and are too intimate for me to want to reveal at a public space. 🙂

      5. And that is entirely the right thing to do, your wellbeing is very important…My previous experiences have taught me to exercise caution in expression in public spaces, so my poetry will have to be in what I’m doing for now…the blog experiment I’m undertaking, I’m enjoying anyway, so not getting much time for anything more on the arty side of creation:) If you want to add me on Facebook, I’m Don Charisma there too … TC Don Charisma

  40. Hi, Thanks for visiting my blog and the follow. You are a person of many talents! Cheers, Mrs. J

    1. Hey Denise, my pleasure … life is not always happy and easy, but we do get an opportunity to build character and spirit when it’s challenging and just plain hard … may be of interest, I posted a link to a free paul mckenna download here … I found he’s helped me change my ways of thinking, but had to be very persistent with it …

Hope happier times are ahead, good luck with life and your blog … I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

      1. So glad for that, troutfishingqueen slept with my worst enemy, broke my heart, took my kids away from me and I have to pay her millions each month to keep her in the “style to which she has become accustomed” LOL

  43. Hi Don,
Thanks for the follow. I too consider myself a Phoenix much of the time. My life doesn’t seem to just take an exit, it jumps the damn tracks and goes on a completely different highway. Usually it doesn’t feel like I have much of a say in this change either. I probably do, I am just not seeing the metaphysical point or some such point. Look forward to more posts from you, and seeing the posts you follow.
    Navaara @ Mind Chatter

    1. Hey Navaara, thanks for your comments … someone taught me a while ago to start taking responsibility for what’s happening in my life, I think there’s a key there … some things are easier to take responsibility for than others though !

Look forward to hearing more from you, Keep in touch …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

      1. The whole ‘taking responsibility’ thing is way over-rated, I am sorely convinced. I have been doing this for a long time now, and where has it got me…well, at least I have a fairly clear conscious.

      2. Oh, this has definitely been one of my life lessons, over and over. I probably still don’t have it right, well…because my way IS right, why can’t others see that. LOL I have used the Phoenix so many times in my life for an avatar, writing, and in drawing: It always says what I feel in just the one picture.

      3. I find it hard to know what to write in reply, but someone just sent me this – “I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.” Anne Frank, The Diary of a young girl.

  44. Hi Don,
Thanks for checking out my website. I so love + appreciate the paradox quote from Peaceful Warrior…so true yet some how I still find myself trying to decipher this crazy journey of life! thanks for great reminder and look forward to checking out your blog – you no doubt lead an interesting life and I so appreciate the writings!

    All the best, Jamie

  45. Thank you for visiting my blog and for deciding to follow. The way you introduced yourself was very unique and I liked the way you divided your interests in ‘realms’. I’ll definitely return to read your posts. All the best 🙂

    1. Hey evelenmargaret, thanks for you kind comments … a very dear friend of mine, an older platonic female devoted much time to helping me figure out a credo like this, so I can’t take all the credit myself … Love the Sophia Webster shoes, but can’t afford to buy for my girlfriend, she’ll have to settle for something from the local market …

Good luck with your blog, looks like your a bit of a fashion guru !

Fantastic. Thanks so much for linking. I understand that intensity completely! Meditation is never usually a ‘breezy’ topic of discussion 🙂

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

        Cheers,

        Sarah

  49. Stopped by to say hi and thanks for following my blog. I am working my way through your posts and next on my list is your post on cartooning. I’m hoping a non-professional can learn to cartoon.
Don’t you just love all the cool stuff other people do?

    1. Hey kelly, thanks for stopping by … hope you enjoy the cartoon article, it’s not that difficult to do, just takes time and persistence, and it’s really fun to do (well most of the time !) I’ve added you on my links –> friends, you doing the same helps people find our blogs 🙂

  50. Hey! You have a really cool blog. Thanks for following me. I checked you out and I love your stuff. I have got to get photoshop and make a cartoon avatar. Your post about it was really cool and I like the way you write. I’ll look forward to more posts and hopefully more visits. 🙂

    1. Again nice ass ! Thanks for your kind words, mostly I did the cartoon avatar for myself, but I can see others would like to do themselves. It really isn’t that difficult to do, just time consuming and a lot of patience needed … I am very pleased with the result it’s exactly what i wanted:)

I keep on blogging about stuff that interests me, hopefully others will find it useful too!

  51. Love your name! You have some great talents and skills. I have a base working knowledge of computer stuff. Thanks for using your skills to make the world a better place. 🙂

    1. Hi Meg, thanks very much … It’s sort-of a play on words, but I’m sure you figured that much out yourself … I do my best to make the world a better place, but it seems often an uphill struggle, but c’est la vie:)

  59. Don, Thanks for the follow of My Great Adventures….A Journal. Looking forward to following your progress and enjoy what I see.

  60. Hi, love your blog!
It’s full of so many different things(which i hope mine will be soon). I’m in tune with most of your interests, plus I love people that don’t close themselves into one thing.
No more comments for now since I have to read some more of your stuff:P:)
    greetings, Maxi

  61. Great Avatar and excellent writing style. Life is remarkable and I have no doubt that someone with your creativity and humour knows that it’s what you bring to a job that makes it interesting. Don Charisma sounds like a guy who is open to a world of infinite possibilities. Great to see you on dragonshades which is about to have it’s first birthday. I’ve always felt like a citizen of planet Earth and now through blogging it is possible to share part of each day with wonderful people all around the globe. Magical!

      1. All those with special powers need times when they can be reclusive if for no other reason than to recharge the batteries. Without the contrast of ‘normality’ we couldn’t fully appreciate charisma as a positive life choice. Have fun with the sparkling and thanks for the good wishes.

  62. Thank you for following my blog! I recently got back on track and will keep fuelling it with interesting findings. I hope you like my tech savvy tips and articles! 😀

I’ll definitely read your stuff when I have some time. That cartoonification article is awesome btw!

    See you around!
    Sirus

    1. Hi Sirus, Thanks for you kind words. I’m just getting my blog up to speed the same as you. Booting from USB key in virtualbox looks useful I’ll give that a read.

Keep on plugging away it, forums are a bit dreary really for finding out how to do stuff, as is ehow, which is why I’m putting my howtos out on a blog. People do actually find this stuff useful, even the geek’iest, have had some searches come in from engines that would have led people right to answer that I couldn’t find anywhere …

      Cheers

      Don Charisma

      1. You’re welcome! And if you ever have questions or want to know how to do something, simply shoot me an e-mail and ask away. I’ll make a post on it after finding (or not) how 😛

        Thanks!
        Sirus

  63. It never ceases to amaze me how small and cozy the world has become thanks to the internet! Thank you for following my blog…I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about you as a result! Best wishes!

  64. Your blog looks great, thank you for checking out mine as well. I would love to learn more about your SEO company and what you’re working on now.

    1. Hey there, thanks for the praise, just really started the blog a week ago or so for posting things that interest me, bit like your blog:) Currently working SEO-wise on home maintenance company based in London and will be starting work shortly for a software consulting firm. I think marketing is all the more important especially with tough times in western economies. Keep in touch…

      Cheers

      1. In attempting to get to the bottom of this very long comment section, I grabbed opportunity and chose to write my thank you to you right here. So I cut in line. I thank you, Don, for the follow on Petals Unfolding. The honor is mine.

        Love,

        Lady Pinkrose (Amy)

      2. I’m copying Lady Pinkrose’s technique. I don’t blog as much as I used to—because my life keeps getting in the way—but I appreciate you “following” my humble blog. It’s mainly political these days—when I do post something—but I post a cultural or scientific nugget every now and then. 😉

      3. Dear Don,
Thank you! By the way, how did you find my blog in the first place? I have been trying to figure out how to get more people to see it. I would love any/all suggestions.
        Best

      4. I just blogged about SEO tip for wordpress about tags check that one out … also check my Virgin’s guide part one and two … I do occasionally post about promoting oneself, not sure when next instalment is … as for where I found you I don’t remember, possibly the reader or yahoo or Google 🙂
