The Britisher – The Week That Was – 15-Mar #150

Most of you know by now the lamestream media is almost rotten to the core, so …

The Britisher popped up in my feed some time ago. He posts weekly updates of the UK news/politics – so might be useful for expats who don’t want to be constantly monitoring events (or anyone else who wants a weekly catchup on mostly UK news/politics).

He’s a traditionalist, for want of a better word, maybe conservative ?. (ie Socialists/communists should probably avoid his channel, and this video, to avoid meltdowns).

Also, his videos seem to disappear, probably YouTube censorship – I think perhaps “politically correct” bias of YouTube moderators, which he’s mentioned before. So, I suggest if you want to watch, then watch this one soon.

As most of you know by now, I believe in free speech, politically correctness isn’t that. It’s a cornerstone of non-totalitarian democratic societies. If you need clarification, read my disclaimer below, before commenting.

Kind of obvious really, but best stated, so that it’s clear.

  1. Well, thanks to Trump the majority, yes, majority of people that I interact with view these hacks as genuine news; right up there with incorrect or ignorant memes. We have blurred the lines between journalism and opinion and will pay for it.

    1. Fair enough.

Not sure I agree it’s Trump’s fault, but that’s a subjective opinion. I’m fairly neutral on the orange man.

“We have blurred the lines between journalism and opinion and will pay for it.” – completely agree with that.

And we’ve blurred the lines between journalism and propaganda, and will pay for that too.

      1. The fake news craze began with the Tea Party (who turned out to be either crazy or corporate hacks). They were also Trump’s eventual base.
So fake news became their mantra and he led the way.

      2. JC, again not sure I agree. Tea party is conservative, ie roughly “right wing” and mainstream media is mainly roughly “left wing”.

So, given that the mainstream media is dominated by mostly “left wing”, how are “right wing” conservatives to blame for fake news ?

Wouldn’t the ones who are creating the fake news, be the ones who are responsible for it ?

Or did I miss something ?

      3. Huey Long said (paraphrase) that it doesn’t matter if a Republican or Democrat waiter brings you your food because Wall Street is cooking in the kitchen.

The tea party was a grassroots anti government group formed by the Koch brothers to get people to distrust government and embrace big business.

Trump ran on the same ideas.

And everything to him is fake news, even his own intelligence reports.

      4. Yup, I saw a clip on YouTube of a banker telling Ronald Regan to basically “wind it up” during Regan’s speech. The banker didn’t know the mic would pick up his voice, as he thought he was wispering into Regan’s ear. Sorry I don’t remember the banker’s name, maybe you know the clip I’m referring to.

So, roughly the same thing. The money is what is really in charge.

I’m not keen on big business/monopoly because it cuts out the small man. The small man, is most of us. Big business is, I thought, mostly globalist.

For some reason I thought Trump was/is a populist, which is the opposite of a globalist. So that would make Trump pro-small business/entrepreneur ? And pro the small man, like you and I ?

As for fake news, out of the mainstream media there’s been nothing but conspiracy theories, partisanship and endless “orange man bad”, including an attempted impeachment. So, I’m kinda not surprised Trump keeps on saying “fake news”, because mostly it seems it is.

In any case, it’s interesting to chat to you about this, but I think we’d both be better utilized using our time to assist those who’re suffering due to the pandemic.

So, we should probably leave it there.
