I came across Mahyar Tousi’s channel over the past couple of months. He provides an informative populist discussion of (mostly UK) – current affairs, culture and politics, is well spoken, engaging and charismatic.
It seems the BBC is having a meltdown right now, they just announced 450 job cuts in their news division, with more cuts to come.
They’ve also been SEXIST towards their female employees (paying male employees more than female), and have settled a number of cases of pay discrimination. In total millions of pounds, to a number of women, has been paid, presumably straight out of my (and your) license fee. Who’d have thunk it – the BBC, a bunch of misogynists in 2020, shocking, absolutely shocking.
The BBC continues heavily pushing a minority political narrative in all of their programming, and are accused of intentionally assisting in establishing division between UK citizens over the Brexit issue – via an extreme pro-EU bias and minority propaganda.
Quite a (sorry) sight to behold really. Kinda want to say that rhyming idiom about going broke, but that would likely cause a mental meltdown for some, so I won’t, and err to the side of tact and diplomacy. For now.
I do in one way feel bad for the BBC, it was a great institution, making world class TV and radio over the decades. I grew up with their programs, and feel very lucky to have had access to the creations of some obviously gifted geniuses. But, sadly, those days are behind us.
As I said in an earlier post, Boris Johnson looks like he’s going after the BBC’s licence fee, something I won’t be sad to stop paying, especially as it’s going up each year and it’s paid on pain of prison. Hopefully, the BBC can be saved, and get back on track, but at the moment their future as a mainstream broadcaster in the UK is looking very shaky.
I also heard some “journalists” walked out of a Conservative party “special” briefing in protest that some of their fellow “journalists” weren’t allowed access. BBC was included in this. Kinda not the right message you want to be giving to the people who could shut down your funding, but I guess principles should come first. Or, were they just being condescending and rude to our prime minister. Dunno, I wasn’t there.
Over the past few days, there’s also been videos produced by Carl Benjamin and Jeff Taylor on the same topic, please let me know in the comments if you want me to share those. Or I may just do it anyway, depends on time available to me.
Anyway, on to the video …
Lastly – I AM JUST PASSING THIS ON – I am not a journalist or activist and TBH most of the time not a “serious” writer either (blogging is supposed to be fun?). I’m a centrist, I read and view content from both sides of the aisle (as long as it’s not blatant propaganda, or utter trash) – so I’m sharing this for your information, something you may not be aware of and may be interested in. As with any news or report, don’t just take it at face value, do your own research, use your own critical thinking. Kind of obvious really, but best stated, so that it’s clear.
Comments are often welcomed, provided you can string a legible, relevant and polite sentence together. In other cases probably best shared with your therapist, or kept to yourself.
