The last I heard of Nish Kumar he was being booed off stage, at the Lord’s Taverners annual charity cricket lunch (London). You can look that one up for yourself. But, in short – from what I understood it was because Nish was making jokes conforming to a minority political narrative (Orange man bad, Brexiteers are stupid racists etc), which, unfortunately for Nish, the audience didn’t share with him. It didn’t go well at all for Nish – food was thrown at him and he took the bizarre move of arguing with the audience, and doubling down, rather than taking it on the chin and gracefully bowing down. I think in the end one of the organisers had to go on the stage and usher him off. Presumably, before something more drastic occurred, although I’m 100% certain Lord’s Taverners annual charity cricket bunch aren’t white supremacists or KKK, they seemed like a bunch of elderly folks having a peaceful knees up – so probably they would have just verbally escalated the interaction, until Nish got the message that his intrusion to their celebration *REALLY* was unwelcome.
It’s fair to say, Nish is almost at the bottom of the list of comedians I want to see, or hear from, with people like Dave Chappelle at the top. Shame Eddy Murphy changed, he was something to behold back in the day – dunno why, perhaps someone will enlighten me in the comments.
Anyway, the reason for this post is – Now Nish is producing anti-British propaganda funded by the BBC aimed at kids. I can’t really vocalise how wrong that is, but Carl Benjamin does a better job of it than I could, so …
FYI – I’ve found Carl Benjamin’s channel “Akkad Daily” useful for the past couple of months through the general election and Brexit, so might be worth checking him out, if you’re interested in a non-fakestream discourse. He’s knowledgeable, well spoken and definitely not #thick. I’ve found his content engaging and informative, and assistive in interpreting current affairs.
Hard to say his exactly his political leaning, but I seem to remember him describing himself as a “traditional liberal”, you know the type of liberalism, that existed before it degraded into what it is now. Though – Please don’t take my word for it, do you own research.
YouTube even seem to have started showing adverts on his channel which is a good sign – in that minority politics may no longer be influencing who can speak or not, and more optimistically, perhaps a relaxing of who’s “allowed”/”permitted” to earn a living producing content on YouTube. You know, kinda how it should be, free speech, 1st amendment, I don’t agree with you but I’ll protect your freedom of speech to say it, etc. – rather than intolerance masquerading as diversity and equality of outcome.
Carl was a member of UKIP, and then the Brexit party. You know – Nigel Farage’s party, the party that where actually indirectly successful in achieving Brexit, via the Conservatives.
Anyway, here’s Carl’s video on the “commedian” Nish Kumar’s BBC funded (ie your license fee funded) propaganda program:
Lastly – I AM JUST PASSING THIS ON – I am not a journalist or activist and TBH most of the time not a “serious” writer either (blogging is supposed to be fun?). I’m a centrist, I read and view content from both sides of the aisle (as long as it’s not blatant propaganda, or utter trash) – so I’m sharing this for your information, something you may not be aware of and may be interested in. As with any news or report, don’t just take it at face value, do your own research, use your own critical thinking. Kind of obvious really, but best stated, so that it’s clear.
Comments are often welcomed, provided you can string a legible, relevant and polite sentence together. In other cases probably best shared with your therapist, or kept to yourself.
