  1. i dont agree a little. i dress what i like and not others. i always dress simple and clean this is what i need and feel happy, peaceful and easy. i dont bother what the second person would thought about me whether in a party or at the job interview. yes image is important but content is the most important. 🙂

    1. Fair comment Han 🙂 … I think it depends on the context … so we’d be dumb not to dress well for a job interview … but a day relaxing on the beach we can wear what we want …

    1. Would imply a judgement about the other person. I’m sure both you and I would agree we have NO CONTROL over what other people think, so judging them as “superficial” not all that helpful …

Personally I dress down a lot of the time, because I don’t want or need the attention of others. I’ve also advised people travelling in Thailand, to dress down, it makes one less likely the target of thieves or muggers … I’ve heard horror stories of people ending up in hospital for wearing jewellery or expensive watches … a lady I met in the lift/elevator ended up spending 15000 baht at hospital for injuries sustained when she had her phone stolen when she was travelling on the back of a moped and got mugged … the phone cost less than she spent at the hospital …

Within that a job interview, formal occasion or otherwise special occasion I might don a long sleeve shirt, tie, proper trousers and shoes … the rest of the time I wear aged t shirts, bermuda shorts and flip flops, and couldn’t care less what others think of me …

Mainly the point is to be aware that we’re often judged superficially by others and adapt according to the situation … image is powerful, so also is not caring what other people think, in which case superficial just wouldn’t register !
