Another of my wintry moody weather shots taken in London. This one is of one of Greenwich’s centrepieces, St Alfege church.

There really are some amazing old buildings – they sure knew how to build them back in the day!
LOL, not like all the glue and concrete these days 😛

🙂
The architecture on that old church is SO amazing!
😀
If that’s your impression of winter – you ain’t seen nothing yet from Canada and the Eastern US this year.

‘uck that’s cold, I thought -2 to -5 was cold in UK … I’ve become somewhat acclimatised to tropical weather now !
Pray for furnace longevity …
I’m praying for global warming!

Interesting architecture – built in 1712 following the collapse of a medieval church on the site.I read that the design followed that of St. Paul’s. I think it’s more ponderous, though.
It’s a feature in Greenwich, and because of the tall spire can be seen from quite a distance … as for the history, that’s new so I learnt something too 😀
Noticing the arrow pointing down at the traffic sign outside church and then looking up to se the church tower. Is it coincidence or deliberate composition of the photo?
It’s a trick of the angle, the sign doesn’t actually point straight down, it’s to an angle … forget what it means, I think it’s a “keep on the left” sign …
Good post Don!
😀
Don, I’m Jewish but I still like the architecture. 🙂
I was once described as “humanist” – so church, mosque, temple, cathedral, tabernacle etc etc same for me … like you I like the architecture 😀
yes. 🙂 It’s very pretty.
