Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

  1. Every one of us is an artist at heart for sure, how to remain this artist at heart depends also very much on the support we have while growing up. Nevertheless, it is always possible to re-connect with this artist, because when we become adults we have a choice to do so, of course it depends again on the circumstances we live in… And yet nurturing that potential is at times all that is needed…
    What a paradox indeed

  2. The artist I know just don’t have enough time. A lot needs to be done every day, and he needs to live. Art requires time. One challenge in today’s busy world.

  3. This resonates with me. I wrote my first story at 5 years old. I was published by 16. All I ever wanted to be was a writer. My mother loved to read my work but the whole time insisted that it was only a hobby. It would never pay the bills. I went to business school. I worked in a career that I detested for over a decade. Luckily my inner child paid me a visit and reminded me that life is about happiness, not money. 🙂

  4. Nice quote; the problem is that there is no problem, never become “mature”, never “grow up”, never forget the wonders of childhood, never be restricted by society’s dumbed-down ignorance and always remain fascinated by the smallest miracles in your life, like waking up alive to a new day. Create!

  5. The problem here is the growing up part. In all great artists, there is a part that refused to grow up and give up on their imaginary world.

  6. …don’t keep telling him his colour choices are wrong…and that he keeps colouring out the lines…he will figure it out when and if he is ready to and needs to. Stop trying to make him colour in the way you think he should. Never stop letting him look at the world around him from his perspective…
Stop telling him his picture does not represent anything you know in the world as you see it.

And if there is no one to tell whoever ‘him’ is…then ‘him’ must just never stop finding beauty in everything…and how many patterns there are to enjoy.
    Simple really. 😛

You had to know I would LOVE this one and prattle off like a twit!
