This post is partially dedicated to Niko. It’s a blogging phenomenon, perhaps, that I meet some really awesome people, truly inspiring. Niko is if one of those guys. Not picking favourites, I have many favourites, many awesome people around me, but just his turn today.
He’s one of those people that has achieved a coveted place on my friends page. Why ? Let’s just call it persistent being a cool guy, or he just doesn’t give up on being part of what I’m doing. He’s got the kind of charisma that I rarely see in guys, the type of person one feels at very at ease with … say hello, or ciao regatzo on his blog for me, he’d like that 🙂 – http://nikoinblogosphere.wordpress.com/
So the photos are for you Niko, I didn’t realise when I was taking them, but I do now I see them on my screen 🙂 I know you like lions, and the Roman soldier hopefully is a bonus. And there’s a sneaky sunset (or two) in the mix …
This is my personal (and professional) blog. Sometimes I share a little of myself. I don’t believe in airing my dirty laundry in public, it’s not my style, it’s not really very professional either. Usually you’ll just see a moan or a rant about this or that, at worst I don’t blog for a while, smart people know what’s going on, they always let me know that they know.
Today was one of those where everything turns upside down, then back again. One of those days where I’m humbled by just how little I really am. I learn a big lesson in a short space of time. We all get these days from time to time, so don’t pretend you’re above it, you’re not, your life can change with a phone call or a few words in an instant.
It’s the quality of our relationships that measures the quality of our lives, and surely I am very blessed by the lovely people around me. They are modern day angels. The more I know them, the safer and happier I am.
I’m not perfect, not by a long chalk, just as plain and ordinary as anyone else. A lot of the people I meet here are just truly awesome, far beyond any expectation I had before I started blogging. It moves me a lot when I’ve read comments from people who are suffering, in hospital, in severe pain or have tremendous difficulties say that they’ve enjoyed something I’ve photographed or written, that it’s been the highlight of their day. All the critical words I’ve heard about myself, just don’t seem quite so important, nor do the morons who don’t really know me that have written them.
I may now take a break for a couple of days, Danny has offered to “hold the fort” (you’re in capable hands). But I’ve said it before, and then it’s usually a sunset or two later and I’m right back on it.
Sorry if you’ve posted comments and I’m slow at responding – I do my best, try to reply to everyone as quickly as I can 🙂
I’m not perfect …. those that mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind …
Warmest regards
Don Charisma
Get some rest son. Those sunsets will keep and there will be another super one tomorrow and the next day, but there’s only one of you. So take care of you so you can keep sending us sunsets and lions.
THanks hun, always happy to have angels like yourself around me 🙂
Bah! I don’t like perfect. We need to give it a bad rap. It usually means someone has misunderstood someone else and most importantly, themselves.
With perfection then it becomes an automatic set up for failure. Everyone (including yourself) can’t live up to this unrealistic ideal. I worry for people that expect this from others too, it shows me they do not accept themselves; or are unwilling to. And seeing as there’s about 7 billion of us, this would mean: every single one of us is also not immune to the predicament of our fleshy confinement 😉 Not one human being…People are people. Keep blogging. Please 🙂
Hun, I intend to, just sometimes things go “Pete Tong” as we say in uk, rhymes with “wrong” … and for sure about perfection, happily I think the majority of people understand this … those that don’t will say “he can’t be with her, he’s ugly” (or any number of other dumb cliches) … they haven’t really understood that she sees the beauty inside, and that a human is worth much more than their superficial appearance … beauty and the beast 101 I think … and perhaps moron 101 too !
LOL! Yep. Exactly. Haha! You need to do an entire post in Rhyming Cockney/London stuff*. Haven’t heard that in ages 😀 It’d be awesome 🙂
OK hun, that’s a good idea actually, I have a book on it somewhere, although I’m fairly sure it’s in LDN …
ahahah! I was thinking about running a flash fiction story contest in L33t speak. I’d like to see how that would play out >:)
Whoosh … that was the sound of that going right over my head …
Rhyming slang contest is a great idea. Mind you,I live in London…
LOL, great idea carol … i think you’d have slight advantage though 🙂
Could be mighty embarrassing if I come last! 😉
LOL, you’ll had to get swotting then, the two ronnies had some funny sketches and there’s a good scene in Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels 🙂
Hi Don you’re master a true diamond such away with words
Thanks my friend, that’s very kind of you to say … sometimes I find the inner wordsmith 🙂
Well put. We all need a break from the day to day. Yours is well deserved. I look forward to your return
Thanks, I’m on the mend, catching up on comments right now … I’ll be back soon 🙂
Reblogged this on Sustainability Longevity Stamina.
Thanks for the reblog 🙂
Awesome post I can’t wait for the day you come down to South Africa you going to love it.
I’d love to, I tend to get on with Saffers for some reason … some people say I look like a saffer, so that might be why ?
Wise words and beautiful pictures, what more could a girl want 🙂 thank you!
Thanks hun … wise, sometimes ! warm regards DC
Lovely reflective post. Take care of yourself, DC.
Thanks Carol, hope all is well with you too 🙂
What ever is going on, keep well, big hugs x
Thanks hun, I’m on the mend, troubles are often useful to find positive and new directions … your support means a lot to me 🙂
Thank you so much Don. I’m gladly speechless for this presentation post and thank you for wonderful photos you dedicated to me. Thank you for chance you offer me to make new friends sharing yours. :-). As soon as I have time I’ll answer to them all. Have a wonderful day 🙂
You’re welcome dude, I see you as a rising superstar in blogging, and being Italian you have a big opportunity as I don’t see that many Italian blogs … that aside, you’ve always a positive word, and friendly guy, blog friend magic as far as I’m concerned 🙂
Thank you again 🙂
You’re welcome dude 🙂
Also I love the lion photo and I am sure Niko does too. The palm fanning out behind the lion is a nice touch.
Thanks hun, it was a very ordinary trip to supermarket, but I’ve had a few good photos in this spot …
I like the notion that if we were perfect we would not be here… what would be the point? I am glad you are taking care of yourself Don. All the best till we meet again… ^_^
For sure, if there’s nothing to learn, then we’d get bored fast, and there would probably be no need for any kind of relationships … so being imperfect is exactly how it should be … see you soon 🙂
No need to be perfect. All you have to be is perfectly you. 🙂
Thanks michelle 🙂 I like the perfectly imperfect 🙂
I’m always here offering a smile for you and an ear, if you need it. You are a stand up guy. We’re happy to have you. Give yourself the time you need, DC.
I’ll go by and say hi to Niko.
Hugs and love,
Audrey
Thanks Audrey, your friendship means a lot to me too … I’m on the mend, will be firing on all cylinders before long 🙂
Thank you, DC. Good to hear, however, all four cylinders? Now, I’m shaking a little… 😉 Wait…naww.
Was up to 3 earlier, back down to two … sort throat, drained etc … it’ll pass …
Have a good rest. I’m glad you found me or maybe I found you. Now I can’t remember. I think the Blood Moon is fooling around with my electromagnetic system. I needed to take a nap today and I had a short temper for the last couple days.
It matter not to me, who found who, we found each other that’s all that counts … the moon has a big influence, is why I have my moon calendar, haven’t got any scientific results yet, I’ll get back to you on that … all I do know is that’s definitely in influence on feminine cycle, and I suspect also an influence on masculine cycle also …
Happy to be friends, I get a lot from that here on WordPress 🙂
Such a nice heartfelt post. Enjoy your down time!!!
Thanks hun … and yes straight from the heart … I’m on the mend, so back up to speed very shortly 🙂
You take the deep breath you need and I’ll ‘like it’ when you feel up to coming back, Don.
On the mend dude, I’ll be back very soon and thanks for encouraging words 🙂
Wish you a well deserved break Don. Read you when you come back.
Leslie
Thanks, I’ll be back before you know it !

Thanks hun, that’s very kind … and you know what, you are one of the reason I continue to blog too 🙂 … some more cool stuff coming up soon 🙂
Yay! I am looking forward to it. And thanks for the kind words too!
You’re welcome 🙂
Hugs for you, DC. Enjoy your time away. We’ll be here when you get back.
